Capstan Therapeutics, Inc. is a privately held biotechnology company dedicated to advancing in vivo cell reprogramming.  The core platform technology comprises proprietary targeted lipid nanoparticles (tLNPs) that are composed of LNPs conjugated with a recombinant protein binder, such as a monoclonal antibody. tLNPs are designed to deliver payloads, including mRNA or gene editing tools, capable of reprogramming specific cell types in vivo.  The platform technology has the potential to generate transformative therapies with possible applications across a broad range of disease areas, including oncology, autoimmune disorders, fibrosis, and monogenic blood disorders.

The Opportunity
Capstan is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate I or Research Associate II to join the Analytical Development team. In this role, you will be responsible for routine testing along with analytical method development/optimization for characterization of our LNPs/tLNPs along with its individual components. This role requires a strong attention to detail with a quantitative/analytical mindset and drive to tackle complex problems in a dynamic environment.


Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Perform routine analysis and participate in development/optimization of methods as outlined by supervisor to characterize LNPs/tLNPs along with their individual components.
  • Follow safety procedures/guidelines, protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Maintain detailed and comprehensive documentation and electronic lab notebook (ELN) entries for all performed experiments and assays.
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing results and data interpretation as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal and cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and reliability of data output in addition to troubleshooting out of trend results.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss methods/data in addition to contributing insights and suggestions for any improvements to operations, analytical procedures, methods, SOPs, etc.
  • Support analytical lab operations through equipment maintenance, organizing and maintaining inventory, aliquoting and labeling, and other tasks as needed.
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Typically, candidates possess a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) coupled with 0 to 2+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or other related scientific field is preferred.
  • Additional advantage for candidates with proficiency in any of the following:
    • High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LCMS), Fragment Analyzer, Capillary Electrophoresis
    • Chromeleon, Xcalibur, ProSize, 32 Karat
    • Various analytical techniques such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), osmometers, plate-based assays, etc.
    • Biochemical techniques including quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR)/Digital Droplet PCR (ddPCR), Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), western blotting, gel-based assays, etc.
  • ​​​Demonstrated adaptability and comfort in dynamic work environments.
  • Meticulous attention to detail alongside proven problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to work overtime when necessary, as a prerequisite.
Salary & Benefits Offerings:
  • Salary range is $65,000 - $90,000/year depending on experience.
